HanHui Monk

From the Video:
Hanhui monk was a Buddhist monk who lived in a monastery.  He followed the strict rules as a Buddhist monk and practice chanting and meditation daily.   One day he went to town, and couldn’t resist the fragrance of dog meat.  He thought to himself, "I will take a day's leave from Buddha", broke the precept and ate dog meat.  The next day, he developed 18 painful boils all over his body.  He couldn’t sleep or wear any clothes as his skin was too painful.  Everyone avoided him when they see him.   One day he had a dream of his enemies from his past life.    He was a General in his past life, and wrongly executed 18 of his men who were innocent, together with two other men found guilty of rape.   These 18 men hated him and had been looking for him for 200 years.   But they couldn’t find him because he had hidden in the monastery all these years.  However, as he broke the precept and ate dog meat, his guardian deities (of the Dharma) left him. This presented an opportunity for his karmic debtors to finally seek him out.   The Hanhui monk pleaded with them to let him go.   His karmic debtors said he has not accumulated enough merits and gave him three more years to live.  His boils miraculously disappeared the next day.    For the following three years, the Hanhui monk continued to stay in the monastery following the rules and practice chanting and meditation daily.  Three years later, he developed boils again and passed away.

.
The precepts in Buddhism is like the traffic lights signal, giving us warning so that we don't get hurt.
.
We may face difficulties, worries and misfortune in our lives.  These were actually the effect of the hurt that we had caused on known or unknown karmic debtors from our past lives
.
The impact of these karmic debtors can be too great for us to overcome on our own.   One of the ways to resolve is to sincerely pray to Buddha for help.
 .
Through chanting, light offerings to Buddha, accumulation of merits, we sincerely pray to the most compassionate Buddha to bless our karmic debtors to be happy, to be free from troubles, and to be in paradise.   When our karmic debtors are appeased, we can then be happy and have peace in our lives.
